Can Skype and other methods of internet communication help couples survive long distance relationships?
First of all, it all depends on how much both partners intend to make the relationship work and last, and naturally how much effort and care each feel about the other. This means that once miles away, an extra effort has to be put on the relationship by each for it to work and last. Some examples are maintaining contact and to be in each other’s daily lives as much as possible, through messages, phone calls and through a very useful and handy software called Skype. This program, now used by millions of people allows to have live video calls between people and also a group of people and can therefore be an essential tool in keeping a long-distance relationship working. Needless to say it is nothing like the real deal, but it can help soothe the pain and make contact a better, more full-filling experience. However, after a long period of time apart using Skype would lose its beneficial power and would probably not be as much a helping hand in keeping the relationship lasting. At that point it is up to the partners to figure out ways in which to keep it going and strong.
